Innovative solution for portioning and packaging fresh meat
Irschenberg, 2. August 2018 - At the end of July, MULTIVAC Deutschland and TVI invited selected customers of the meat industry to a two-day information event in Irschenberg. As a highlight, a complete cutting and packaging line for the production of MultiFresh -PaperBoard packages was presented for the first time at the beginning of the event. The solution is unique in the market so far and will also be on display at the FachPack 2018 in Nuremberg.
Against the background of current discussions regarding the reduction of packaging material consumption and the use of recyclable materials, an innovative solution for the portioning and packaging of fresh meat with paper-fiber-based packaging materials was first presented under production conditions. The compact line consists of a multifunctional meat portioner, a feed belt, a compact thermoforming packaging machine and a conveyor belt labeller. The sliced pieces of meat are placed manually on a PaperBoard, then skin-packed and provided on four sides with an attractive label.
GMS 520 singlecut is a highly flexible portioning which can process all types of red meat and poultry in any consistency, in any portion, always with weight and residual optimization, and with the least amount of personnel. TVI's tried-and-tested success model ensures maximum product quality in cutting, shaping and fan-out - even at high throughput - and can even split meat with bones into even slices.
After portioning, the pieces of meat via a feed belt to the insertion of the Thermoforming packaging machine R 105 MF transported. The insertion takes place there manually by means of a template on a special carrier material, which can be processed either as a roll product or as a blank. By providing a functional layer, the carrier material meets the requirements of the barrier properties of plastic composites and is optimally suited for the packaging of fresh meat. All materials can be sorted by the end user sorted and lead the paper carrier to the recycling cycle. At the demonstration in Irschenberg, material from the roll was used for the manufacture of the skin packaging, which offers greater material efficiency and also flexibility in terms of shaping compared with the processing of cardboard blanks.
The PaperBoard is sealed with a special skin film. The top film wraps itself around the product like a second skin without tension and fixes it in the pack, so that it can be presented standing, hanging or lying down at the point of sale. The vacuum in the packaging helps to extend the shelf life. A L 310 conveyor belt labeler is used to label the packs and applies a D label to the packs.
On the agenda was also the exchange of information between the participants on current industry topics as well as the solutions of MULTIVAC and TVI. A tour of the TVI premises and a Bavarian evening finally rounded off the program.
