Correctly implementing animal welfare in slaughterhouses

When it comes to animal welfare issues when slaughtering cattle and pigs, experience and expertise are necessary in order to be able to adequately assess the associated processes and identify critical areas. An in-person training course from the QS Academy focuses on the topic of animal protection during slaughter. The training course "Correctly implementing animal protection in slaughterhouses", which will take place on February 21, 2024 (9:00 a.m. to around 15:30 p.m.) at the QS office in Bonn, is aimed at animal welfare officers in slaughterhouses, entrepreneurs and employees of slaughterhouses of the animal species cattle and pigs as well as auditors.

As part of the event, speaker Stefan Klune, project manager and auditor at SGS Institut Fresenius with many years of professional experience in the meat industry, will address the most important legal requirements surrounding the slaughter process and provide background information on the behavior of the animals. In addition, the participants learn which points must be paid attention to in the individual process steps - from accepting the animals to checking bleeding - to ensure animal welfare.

Note: This training serves as proof of the advanced training required by the QS system for the animal welfare officer.
