One year after the great fire at Adler

On May 26.05.2021, XNUMX, a major fire destroyed parts of the smokehouse and sausage factory at Adler's headquarters in Bonndorf. After almost a year, the renovated premises are ready for occupancy. An ideal alternative location was rented for a year in nearby Freiburg, where the entire range of sausages and parts of the raw ham products were manufactured. The subsidiary in Achern was able to absorb most of the production of Black Forest ham by expanding its capacity.

Marie-Luise Adler, managing partner, called the possibility of renting the production rooms of the company Taifun-Tofu GmbH, former production site of the company Ponnath for a whole year, “luck in misfortune”. The sausage and meat product specialties of the traditional family business were produced in Freiburg with their own staff. The company's own quality requirements and recipes could be successfully implemented in these rooms. Taifun-Tofu, known for high-quality organic tofu specialties, made it possible to use the premises until the end of May.

With a staff of specialist companies, industry specialists and the existing suppliers, the manufacture of almost all products can take place again in Bonndorf. In the beginning, a crisis management team that was formed quickly met daily. “The major fire meant a major turning point for us. We were sometimes fortunate in disguise, for example with the possible production capacities in Freiburg and Achern. However, luck alone is not enough. Thanks to the commitment of our employees, we have succeeded in this feat. We, the Adler family, are very proud of that,” explains Adler with a smile on his face. "My father's active support and wealth of experience was also an invaluable asset." A few smoked Black Forest raw ham products could be smoked in nearby businesses, e.g. at Schwarzwaldhof Fleisch und Wurstwaren GmbH, Blumberg, and Schwarzwaldmetzgerei Kalbacher GmbH & Co. KG, Lörrach .

Fortunately, and in line with Adler's high quality standards, the existing departments in Bonndorf were only confirmed as having a "higher level" in the IFS audit at the end of March this year. The first production after a validation and test phase for the production of sausage, cooked and raw cured goods at the headquarters will be from June 8.06.2022th, 2023. Preparations are in full swing. A large part of the Black Forest ham production will in future take place in the company's own subsidiary Schinkenhof GmbH & Co. KG at the location in Achern. The complete reconstruction will be completed in XNUMX.

"The future viability is guaranteed," reports Peter Adler, managing partner. In the course of the realignment of processes and improvements in room design, the legal company structure was also designed to be future-proof for future generations. This was already planned before the big fire, but could only be implemented now. Hans Adler oHG was founded on June 01.06st. 2022 renamed Adler Schwarzwald GmbH & Co. KG.
