Bonduelle opens fresh production facility in Straelen

Finally the time has come! At the 30 October 2003, Europe's most modern salad processing plant opened its doors in Straelen (district of Kleve, North Rhine-Westphalia). In cooperation with NBV / UGA (Niederrheinische Blumenvermarktung / Union horticultural sales markets), Bonduelle Frische GmbH has found here on the Lower Rhine an ideal location for its new production facility. Over the years, the 16.000 Resident City of Straelen has developed from a monostructural orientation to a commercial and service location, but remains faithful to its reputation as a flower and garden city. This is an important factor that makes the location so attractive for Bonduelle Frische GmbH: The surrounding area offers a high potential of raw materials, which enables short delivery routes and thus also fast processing of the goods.

In cooperation with NBV / UGA, which can look back on decades of experience in its business fields, the French company operates a plant for the fresh convenience market in Germany on around 17.000 square meters. The approximately 5.000 square meter, two-story building will initially create around 100 jobs in the region. Planned part-time jobs are not yet included in this figure. The investment volume is around 10 million euros. Up to 100.000 heads of lettuce are processed in the new plant every day. The goods delivered by NBV / UGA and processed by Bonduelle Freshness GmbH, such as raw vegetables or fresh salads, can be delivered to retailers, hotels, restaurants and large kitchens within 24 hours. This guarantees incomparably high quality!
