For the food industry, hygiene has top priority. Even minimal contamination can cause significant damage. Hand hygiene is an important measure. Not only the cleaning plays a decisive role, but also the drying. Because wet hands can spread up to 1.000 times more bacteria than dry hands - so the risk of infection increases significantly if drying is not given enough importance.

Hygiene is the top priority for companies in the food industry. Especially before entering clean production areas, a functioning and efficient hygiene sluice is therefore crucial for avoiding and transmitting germs and bacteria. Rügenwalder Mühle also knows this and has modernized its hygiene sluices together with the Dyson technology group and Frontmatec Hygiene GmbH, the leading supplier of machines and equipment for hygiene sluices.

The companies rely on cold-air hand dryers, which use filtered and therefore clean air during drying. After all, these hand dryers use the same technology as modern air purifiers: HEPA13 filters remove up to 99,95 percent of bacteria-sized particles from the air. Dyson was able to convince various food processing companies to install the Jetstream hand dryers in their hygiene areas. Among them are big names like Danone, mymuesli, Ulmer Fleisch GmbH and Rügenwalder Mühle. Specifically the Dyson Airblade Wash+Dry is suitable for these sensitive areas of application and is HACCP-approved for it.

"The main reason why we chose the Dyson Airblade™ hand dryer was the cost advantage compared to using paper towels," says Jörg Zapp, Hygiene Officer at Rügenwalder Mühle. The Dyson Airblade™ hand dryers have really proven themselves and we would buy them again at any time.”

Together with Frontmatec Hygiene GmbH, the leading supplier of machines and equipment for hygiene sluices, Dyson has developed a solution for this area of application. For this purpose, Frontmatec Hygiene GmbH has integrated the Dyson Airblade Wash+Dry into a stainless steel basin. The Clean&Dry hand cleaning basin enables hygienic cleaning and drying of hands directly at the basin.

Dyson Airblade™ hand dryers offer the great advantage that no foreign objects such as paper are required thanks to contact-free washing and drying. Lower operating costs of up to 98%* compared to paper are a positive side effect, since the time-consuming refilling of towels as well as procurement, storage and disposal costs are eliminated. Due to the low power consumption of only 4,62 W per use, the energy costs are kept to a minimum. It also saves tons of unnecessary waste. Because paper uses a lot of energy and water in production, it is not only the waste that speaks against paper towels, but also the high consumption of resources and the greenhouse gas emissions generated during production. This makes the paper industry one of the five most energy-intensive sectors in Germany.

With the new hygiene lock, the Rügenwalder Mühle now ensures that the requirements for clean rooms in food production are met - thanks to the Dyson Airblade devices, the high hygiene standards can be met without any problems.
