High-tech lock secures access for personnel and material

Since 2020, the Perwenitz Fleisch- und Wurstwaren GmbH company in Schönwalde-Glien has belonged to the Wilhelm Brandenburg quality butcher, which in turn has been part of the REWE Group since 1986. In the vicinity of Berlin, the company produces a national self-service and service range for REWE and Penny.

In the course of the integration of a new production line and the future orientation of the Perwenitz production site, a concept for the transition from the workshop to the production and in front of the slicer area was developed within a few weeks, in close cooperation with the hygiene technology specialist Mohn and the floor specialist Capital Painter Developed. Of course, taking into account the IFS audit specifications that not only people, but also materials on industrial trucks, such as pallet trucks, pass through the hygiene locks.

Conceptually, Mohn had planned for both hygiene sluices, both in the area of the zone change to the slicer area and in the zone change from the workshop to production, to have dirt collection trays with brush bodies (cleaning mats) embedded in the floor for cleaning the wheels of the industrial trucks. When driving over or passing over the cleaning mats, the brush strips become active due to their pretension. The slanted bristles thus effectively remove the adhering dirt from the running surfaces. This then collects in the integrated dirt trays below the grating. This works without the use of motors and is therefore energy-saving.

An automatic dosing device, monitored by a Siemens Logo controller, ensures automatic filling of the dirt collection trays and replenishment of the disinfectant solution. The dirt is discharged via a filter basket in the floor drain.

It was particularly important in the context of the certification that not only the wheels of the industrial trucks go through the hygiene process before the zone change takes place, but above all that perfect personal hygiene is guaranteed.

An unavoidable hygiene sluice should be implemented for the hygienic cleaning of shoe soles and for cleaning and disinfecting hands, which takes into account the number of employees at the beginning of the shift, break times and the end of the shift in order to avoid staff congestion at the hygiene components.

The transport and escape routes in the area of the hygiene locks were important to consider during planning. Legally prescribed escape widths were realized by the specially developed and field-tested holding magnet railing gates from Mohn.

In addition, the specification of the Perwenitz management was that the double-leaf magnet door system only receives an opening signal for the entry of the industrial trucks when the employees have gone through the personal hygiene process and have authorized themselves at the hygiene lock with a so-called "badge" for access. If the gates are not closed after driving in, a local signal tone sounds after a freely adjustable time interval, which only ends after the gate system has been closed by the employee.

It is planned to couple the hygiene sluices with the on-site fire alarm system in order to be able to guarantee the necessary safety in an emergency. The fire alarm system then activates the magnets.
