New year, new production location

After a construction period of less than two years, the MULTIVAC Group has officially opened its new production site in India. The ultra-modern building complex for sales and production with a usable area of ​​10.000 square meters will be put into operation at the beginning of 2024; The investment volume was around nine million euros. Initially around 60 employees will be employed at the location. The declared goal is to optimally supply customers in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh through regional proximity and shorter delivery times.

There was a celebratory mood on December 120 in the Ghiloth industrial area, 15 kilometers southwest of Delhi. Ritesh Dhingra, Managing Director MULTIVAC India, together with the management of the MULTIVAC Group invited people to the official opening ceremony of the new production site. The guests included Rajesh Nath (Managing Director of VDMA India), Dr. Sapna Poti (Director of Strategic Alliances, Office of Principal Scientific Adviser to the Govt. of India), representatives of the Colliers architectural firm, representatives of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as selected customers and partners. The agenda included inspiring speeches from industry leaders in the bakery, dairy, confectionery and medical sectors.

 “The South Asian region has become increasingly important for us in recent years,” said Christian Traumann, Managing Director (CEO) of the MULTIVAC Group, who runs the plant together with the Managing Directors Dr. Christian Lau (COO) and Dr. Tobias Richter (CSO) opened. “Today’s opening in one of the largest and fastest-growing economies in the world is therefore another milestone in the internationalization of MULTIVAC.” The company now has 13 additional production sites in Germany, Austria, Spain, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Japan and the USA as well as more than 80 sales and service companies worldwide.

The demand for packaging machines for fresh food is continuously increasing in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, as supermarkets are becoming increasingly important in addition to traditional local markets. “With our new plant in India, we will be able to serve food producers as well as medical goods manufacturers even better thanks to regional proximity and new production capacity “We provide state-of-the-art packaging technology and responsive service – from production, installation and commissioning to maintenance,” explained Christian Traumann.

The new factory will begin operations in the second quarter of 2024. MULTIVAC will initially begin assembling small, fully automatic tray sealers and compact thermoforming packaging machines in a production area measuring around 5.000 square meters. The production of mold sets and tools for packaging machines is also planned from 2025. The location also has a hall area for storing spare parts and consumables, which MULTIVAC can make available to its local customers faster than ever.

Showrooms and training centers ensure close cooperation with customers
The new plant is more than just a production facility. The multifunctional building includes a showroom and a training and application center for packaging and baking machines. “This infrastructure offers our customers, technicians and our sales employees here on site the opportunity to delve even deeper into the world of processing and packaging technology and to work together to develop and test customer-specific solutions,” summed up Ritesh Dhingra, Managing Director MULTIVAC India.

The MULTIVAC Group has had a subsidiary in India for more than a decade. The joint venture with the LARAON Group, which was concluded in 2009, was an important milestone for MULTIVAC as part of its internationalization strategy and to open up new markets in South Asia.
