German Grill and BBQ Championship opens its doors

On July 29th and 30th the International German Grill and BBQ Championship will take place on the grounds of Messe Stuttgart. A total of around 40 teams are on site to achieve the big goal - winning the German championship. In addition, an international and an amateur title will be grilled. In addition, there are around 80 exhibitors who give visitors varied insights into current trends in the world of grilling and invite them to shop and feast. An extensive supporting program with barbecue shows and panel discussions as well as the live band Friendly Elf round off the open-air event in the Rothaus Park.

“Many trade fairs tend to take place in spring, autumn or winter. We are now showing that there is another way by organizing a summer trade fair entirely outdoors on our premises for the first time,” says Stefan Lohnert, Managing Director of Messe Stuttgart. “In the course of the Stuttgart spring trade fairs, there was already cooperation with the German Barbecue Association. Here we organized the Baden-Württemberg barbecue championship as part of the BBQ Days. We have now expanded the cooperation, which we are very happy about.”

"It is already the 26th barbecue championship that we are organizing and we are very happy to be in Stuttgart for the first time," says Rainer Wörner, Managing Director of the German Barbecue Association (GBA). "But the championship doesn't mean that we only have one competition - we also offer a large exhibition and a varied program."

Three competitions with prize money totaling 15.000 euros
A total of three competitions take place. On the one hand there is an international title to be won, on the other hand an amateur round is held. However, the focus is increasingly on the German barbecue championship, which is held over two days with a total of six courses. In addition to meat dishes made from chicken and pork belly, there is also a vegetarian course or a dessert. The barbecue teams can participate with a maximum of ten people. This year, a total of over 15.000 euros in prize money and non-cash prizes await the winners. The jury consists of GBA-certified jurors.

Show stage, live music and numerous exhibitors offer a wide variety of barbecues
All championships take place in the open air, which also applies to the exhibition and the supporting program. How do I make my own grilled sausage? How are Wagyu cuts prepared? These are questions that will be answered on the show stage. The stage is surrounded by food trucks, a bouncy castle and numerous exhibitors, including grill manufacturers such as Big Green Egg or Napoleon, butchers and other experts from the world of grilling, who have numerous delicacies and tips and tricks ready. The two-day event will be rounded off by the award ceremony for the three championships, which will take place on July 30 from 16.30:XNUMX p.m.

The International German Grill and BBQ Championship begins on Saturday, July 29 at 10 a.m. Friendly Elf concert with fire show starts at 20 p.m. The second day of the fair also begins at 10 a.m., but ends here at 18 p.m. Tickets are available in different categories. A day ticket costs 18 euros, a season ticket 30 euros.
