A successful trade fair depends on its coherent concept. The Stuttgart SÜFFA is both a marketplace and an exchange of ideas - and is therefore considered one of the most important events for the meat industry in Germany and neighboring countries. At the 2023 edition, around 200 well-known exhibitors will provide information about high-quality products, interesting developments and future-oriented technologies. In addition, the trade audience can expect a wide-ranging supporting program: curtain raiser for the “SÜFFA Specials” (October 21st to 23rd).

“The SÜFFA Specials form an important cornerstone of SÜFFA,” says Andreas Wiesinger, member of the management team at Messe Stuttgart. “They provide information beyond what is on offer at the stands of the exhibiting companies and make SÜFFA a trade fair with real added value. Last but not least, the professional exchange strengthens the community spirit and awareness of the craft, which is very important to us.”

New: SÜFFA network meeting
The network meeting on Saturday and Sunday from 17 p.m., which will celebrate its premiere at SÜFFA 2023 in Hall 9, is all about communication and networking. "There is no substitute for direct interaction between people in business life," emphasizes Wiesinger. “An industry platform like SÜFFA has a special function that we want to further promote with this new format.” In a relaxed atmosphere, with live music and delicious food, you can have intensive conversations and deepen new contacts away from the general hustle and bustle of the trade fair.

Practical: Stage for trends and new things
The “perennial favorite” in the SÜFFA supporting program is the stage for trends and new things. In top-class expert lectures and panel discussions, current challenges are analyzed and industry-specific solutions to burning questions are presented. There are also live demonstrations, suggestions for lucrative additional business and lots of practical tips. A visit to the stage for trends and new things is always worth it!

Female industry professionals: Butcher's Women's Day
With the Butcher's Women's Day, SÜFFA takes into account the complex role of women in the butcher's trade. Since 2014, the Monday of the trade fair has belonged to the foremen, specialist salespeople, employees and female trainees. The cliché of the “good soul” behind the sales counter is outdated: many women now fulfill a key function in the company as decision-makers. Female industry professionals can look forward to a specially tailored offer developed according to the wishes of female visitors.

Classic: SÜFFA competitions
An eagerly awaited highlight of every SÜFFA are the SÜFFA competitions held at the trade fair, which are all about sausage - not just in the figurative sense. In 2023, the state guild association for the butcher trade in Baden-Württemberg and Messe Stuttgart are also looking for the best of the best in their field. Within the industry, the coveted awards are considered a seal of quality and are used specifically in customer communication.

Continuing education with a vision: afz AKADEMIE
The afz ACADEMY focuses on major topics such as “meat and non-meat” or the “tightrope walk between brand madness and price wars in retail”. The practice-oriented platform for learning, discussing and networking offers “continuing education with a vision,” as the organizers put it succinctly. The practical workshop offers lectures with numerous best practice examples.

Visitor magnet: glass sausage kitchen
There are more than 1.500 different types of sausage in this country, which means that the German butcher trade is at the top internationally. Reason enough to take an enlightening look “behind the scenes” of sausage production: For the third time, SÜFFA, together with partner companies, is presenting the Transparent Sausage Kitchen, which has long since developed into a visitor magnet. Possible uses of machines and exemplary processing techniques are shown. A vegan product is also being produced for the first time. All products can be tasted afterwards.

BBQ area
The BBQ trend continues and has a lasting impact on the butcher business. Not only do customers' wishes have to be taken into account, but also comprehensive advice and innovations taken up. This includes special cuts, marinades, suitable cooking methods and the right drinks. In the BBQ area, visitors receive professional suggestions and the right equipment for the BBQ business. One of the highlights of SÜFFA 2023 will be the giant smoker “Big Louis” from the Walter Ludwig company from Pfinztal-Berghausen with a capacity of 9,8 tons of meat.

Many advantages: farm and pasture slaughter
Husbandry and slaughter are topics that are becoming increasingly important, especially at the shop counter, as for many customers, in addition to meat quality, animal welfare is also a deciding factor when purchasing. The special topic of farm and pasture slaughter is dedicated to an innovative approach with many advantages: Since there is no need for transport to the slaughterhouse, the animals can be slaughtered in their usual environment without stress. This, in turn, has a positive effect on the quality of the meat.

More in the range: Focus on delicatessen
Almost every butcher shop now offers a selection of high-quality delicatessen products, from vegetable or egg salad to sophisticated desserts, savory sauces and regional spice oils. In the delicatessen theme park, SÜFFA visitors learn how they can cleverly expand their product range, respond better to customer requests and optimally develop new business areas.

Trendy superfood: Focus on game & hunting
Meat from local hunts is also becoming increasingly popular, be it as a valued delicacy, a healthy superfood or an alternative to mass farming. Since butchers and hunters are ideal partners in the processing and marketing of game products, SÜFFA 2023 will once again focus on the trend topic of game and hunting. For some visitors, this focus of the trade fair may be doubly interesting: there are also many butchers among the members of the state hunting association.

Reach target group: job exchange
Recruiting young talent is now one of the most pressing problems in the skilled trades. With the dynamic job exchange, SÜFFA brings companies, managers and employees together and shows new perspectives and career opportunities. The job applications, job offers or company transfers submitted in advance using a form (download via the SÜFFA website) are displayed free of charge at the trade fair - and thus reach exactly the right target group!
