Federal honorary prizes awarded in 2023
(DLG). The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) has honored 24 top companies in the German food industry with the Federal Prize. This is the highest quality award of the German food industry. Cem Özdemir, Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture, together with Freya von Czettritz, CEO of DLG Holding (German Agricultural Society), presented the certificate and medal at a festive ceremony in Berlin. Producers of baked goods and meat products as well as processed fruit, vegetable and potato products were honored.
Federal Minister Cem Özdemir: "The appreciation for all those who ensure that we have food on our plates every day cannot be great enough. With the federal awards, we recognize the experience, expertise and performance of the people in the German food industry who ensure that our food is of exceptionally high quality. At the same time, the federal honorary awards show the potential of the companies: Many of the award-winning companies recognize the challenges of our time and are already pursuing diverse and innovative approaches in the sense of sustainability. In order to keep a better eye on and strengthen these achievements, we will realign the criteria for the federal awards so that sustainable aspects will be given more weight in the selection of the award winners in the future.”
The federal awards are presented annually to companies in the German food industry. Last year, they achieved the best results with their products in the DLG quality tests. The focus of the product-specific expert tests is the sensory analysis of the food, which is supplemented by a review of the declaration and packaging as well as laboratory tests.
“With the Federal Honorary Award, we are focusing on the quality and performance of our domestic agricultural and food industry. The Federal Honorary Award winners have an exemplary understanding of how to process valuable resources with their high level of expertise into products of the highest quality," said Freya von Czettritz, CEO of the DLG Holding, praising the consistent, sustainable pursuit of quality that the Federal Honorary Award makes transparent.
