Viscofan presents an alternative to seasoning foils

Weinheim, September 2022: Viscofan, an expert in food wraps and films, has developed self-dissolving seasoning leaves for spices, herbs and marinades: ediLEAF is an edible, transparent film made from polysaccharides that acts as a carrier for seasonings and completely dissolves when it comes into contact with moist food dissolves. ediLEAF transfers a wide variety of toppings evenly and without excess to meat, fish, ham, meat alternatives, a wide variety of cheeses including feta, tofu and many other foods and can even serve as a maki substitute for sushi. ediLEAF is available in standard variants as well as in tailor-made versions and enables significant cost and time savings.

The new, self-dissolving leaf marinade and leaf seasoning is ideal for use in butcher shops, in ham production, in cheese dairies, in convenience and system catering, in large-scale catering and in smaller food companies - wherever seasoning and marinating are to be carried out flexibly and in a way that saves time and money must, and where customers appreciate a consistent taste experience and an excellent look. The difference to conventional transfer sheets or sleeves based on plastic or cellulose: These have to be removed by hand before sale or consumption and cause not only considerable effort but also unnecessary waste.

Other advantages: there is no surplus, especially with the expensive spices, there are no perishable leftovers and users can quickly switch between different spices. In addition, the time-consuming cleaning of tumblers and other equipment is no longer necessary. ediLEAF is suitable for clean label products because the vegetable carrier does not contain any ingredients that must be declared and is also free of allergens and genetically modified organisms. The marinade sheets are also significantly reduced in fat compared to oil-based marinades.

The application is very simple: The product is covered or wrapped with the spice or marinade film. After just a few hours, this has completely dissolved and ensures good adhesion of the seasoning to the surface. The marinades are ideal for vacuum packed products, although the transfer time may vary depending on the smoothness and moisture of the product.

ediLEAF is available cut or rolled in three spice densities and different flavors. Whether classic with a garlic and pepper mix, on a culinary journey of discovery with the "Nordic Mix" or spicy with the "Thai Curry Sauce": With these and many other options, there is the right seasoning for every taste - but there are also customer-specific solutions possible.
